Started from the bottom.....

Well helloooooooo...

It's been too long. TOO damn long.

How have you been? What have you been up to? Tell meeeeeeeeeeee

I'll go first.

Last Thursday I headlined the Dania Improv. Wait What?!??! Yeah, I can't believe it either.

Now, if you're new to following me let me give you a brief history of my standup comedy journey. In 2014 I did a standup comedy class at the Hollywood Improv. Graduation night was the most fun and I was excited to keep going. September that year I lost my Dad. My whole world shattered and I never ever wanted to laugh again and certainly didn't care to make others laugh. One year later, I was encouraged to get back on stage and have been doing standup comedy since! I love it! On Thursday March 16, 2023 I got the opportunity to headline the Dania Improv (which is the new Hollywood Improv).

Whew! That was a lot to take in. BREATHE

Lemme tell you. What an amazing experience. I partnered with a producer who does regular shows at the improv and together we pushed and advertised the heck outta the show. Did someone say SOLD OUT? Ahmmm yeah! Sold out baby!

The night was incredible.

When I started comedy I recall being told it would take some time before you discover your voice on stage. So very true. It's not that you don't know who you are but the evolution is remarkable. A friend came to see me perform and after the show he said 'I want to see my friend on stage. I feel like that you are missing from yourself when you are on that stage'. I didn't quite understand what he meant.

Now I do.

I was learning about the do's and don'ts of comedy. Studying the rules and abiding by them. Paying so much attention to the 'formula' I didn't realize I was lost somewhere in there. After thousands of hours doing this, I can feel the difference. I can be present. I also get to watch and enjoy my colleagues at work. Observe how they flex. Soak in the unique perspectives on stage. Embrace my experiences in new way that allows me to share and be vulnerable because to me, that's when the magic happens.

Thank you for kicking it with me all this time.

Let's keep in touch.

Don't forget to follow me on the socials! We've got some fun stuff coming up soon.

Did Someone Say Fine Wine?

There’s a phrase we use in Trinidad which goes “Yuh aging like fine wine” and we all know that the older wine is the better it tastes. As complementary as that may be and I accept it graciously this ‘
