Thanksgiving Formalities

We just observed Thanksgiving Day in the United States of America. En route from the long weekend, I sat staring out the car window, peering into the future and contemplating my past. Each year, as the #holidays come and go, I grow more and more restless. The weight of the year’s end beginning to press and a stark reminder of my foreignness. No one in my immediate family caring about turkey or any particular togetherness for this occasion, I spend the days with my girlfriend’s family who, unlike my own, leave me my space.

You know, I get crossed all the time. Some say I’m too nice, mother says I’m gullible but either way by nature I always wished well. These days, I am finally grateful to see my enemies in turmoil, some even spiraling dangerously out of control and into a web of their own demise. How joyful. Pondering their worries keeps me warm at night. And as you know, we are in the midst of what is said to be the worst winter of recent record. Most of my cold weather clothing was lost during my many moves and misadventures, yet, I was told by an aunt to be thankful for my skin and nerves that allow me to even feel the particulars of temperature.  She tells me this, mind you, while browsing the internet for #CyberMonday deals on trendy coats to keep her 'skin and nerves' nice and warm............

Recently graduated, I have felt the pressure of finding stability and building my future but chasing money drove me to nonstop dead-ends and depression. As it turns out, however, there are tremendous benefits to being #broke. Here is one example:

“I’m sorry my dearest friend, but there’s just no way I can meet up with you on this fine eve, I simply cannot afford it.” he said, with an organic smile creeping on his face.

What a better way to avoid making plans? Absolutely nobody offers to pay for you, and I don’t have to tell a single lie. This #thanksgiving I’m thankful for less money.

I could go on and on, mentioning the radical movements that suddenly gained a platform and were able to properly embarrass themselves or the celebrity(s) that acted out giving the rest of us some more space to make mischief, but alas the #leftovers must be tended to. Make sure to pause before you dig in, and reflect on the things that you’re thankful for, no matter what or who they are.

Did Someone Say Fine Wine?

There’s a phrase we use in Trinidad which goes “Yuh aging like fine wine” and we all know that the older wine is the better it tastes. As complementary as that may be and I accept it graciously this ‘

I Wish you ALL the things

Welp! We are here again. We made it! Oh God I thank you. 2024 here we come. Every year I promise myself that I would take control of my anxiety which, by the way should be simple because I AM a contro
